A POS that dies when the network drops isn't a tool — it's a liability. Here's how we design for 2G reality.
Most software is designed in places where internet is a utility. In Kariakoo, it's a variable. Power dips, bundles run out, and a 3G tower can be busy at noon and idle at midnight.
Offline-first means the sale happens on the device, not on the server. Faida POS writes every transaction to local storage first, then syncs when connectivity returns. The shopkeeper never sees an error — just a small 'syncing' dot in the corner.
The discipline this imposes is useful everywhere: smaller payloads, conflict-aware data models, and interfaces that assume latency. Your software becomes faster in Berlin because it had to survive Kariakoo.
